Recognition for photographer Ashley Franklin

An image of Duffield’s Eyes Meadow in autumn was a near-winner for Milford-based photographer Ashley Franklin in the Trees, Woods and Forests category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year 2020 awards.

Ashley’s photo, taken on a bright, mist-strewn November morning, achieved a Finalist award, just outside the top three, but ahead of the Highly Commended and commended prize winners.

“I am elated with this recognition,” said Ashley. “This is one of the world’s most prestigious photo competitions, attracting around 19,000 entries from both professionals and amateurs in 50 countries across the globe.”

Ashley’s image will appear in the awards’ book and is currently on show with other leading prize winners at London’s Kew Gardens, until March 10. The exhibition will then tour the UK.

The picture is also the November page of Ashley’s 2020 Duffield Calendar.
